Known for being the gateway between Europe and Asia, Turkey has a storied past that can be studied at length in books but is best observed and experienced in person. While some countries can be definitively said to be belonging to one culture type or another, Turkey is a land of contrasts, caught in between a variety of identities that only serve to make it all the more intriguing and seductive. It’s hard not to fall in love with all that Turkey is!

Here are a few of the reasons you should take Turkey holidays if you haven’t already. Even if you have, it’s safe to say it’s a location you can never get tired of.

As mentioned before, Turkey has quite the past and visiting it is an excellent opportunity to explore that past for yourself. The city everyone is most familiar with in Turkey, Istanbul, was once known as Constantinople when it was a part of the Christian kingdoms of old – and it is the only city to straddle two continents! You can see here numerous architectural styles as the city changed hands over the centuries, from mosques to cathedrals, and markets as old as the city itself. Other destinations in Turkey for the history lover include Bodrum with its numerous world heritage sites or the Ishak Pasha Palace at Cleopatra’s Bay. You’ll never be without things to see here!

Shopping

As mentioned above, Istanbul is home to the world famous Grand Bazaar, where merchandise from all over the world is sold in very much the same way as it was centuries ago. It is here that you can find those exotic flavours, jewelry or rugs to take back home – and many can be had at outrageous deals if you know where to look and have your bargaining skills sharpened.

Relaxation

If you just want to kick back and relax without much of an agenda, consider using a trip to Turkey as a relaxing vacation. Home to resorts, beach front hotels and holiday villas, Turkey is famous for its easy going vacations for people all over the world. With temperatures ranging from 25 – 35 C from May to October, you’ll be sure to have plenty of sunshine to enjoy!
