Day 1:
You are met upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta airport
and depending on your arrival time pick up packed lunches , drive down
to Kisumu with a view of the beautiful landscape on your way and the
unending stretches of Kenyan tea plantations in Kericho.
Upon arrival in Kisumu transfer to Kiboko bay
resort. Experience the breathtaking view of the sun setting at Kiboko
Bay Resort on the shores of the shimmering waters of Lake Vitoria.
Dinner and overnight at Kiboko Bay resort.
Day 2
Breakfast at the hotel then drive to Kogelo
Community village. Kogelo, also known as Nyang’oma Kogelo, is
a rural village in Alego - Siaya District, Nyanza Province, Kenya. It
is located near the equator, 40 kilometers west-northwest of Kisumu
City, and the provincial capital. Kisumu – Siaya road leads
to Kogelo branching from Ng’iya junction.
You will then head through Kisumu Busia road to
reach Maseno University gates and proceed just 150 meters from the
Maseno University gates to the Equator Line Point. After a photography
session on the Equator line, you will proceed to Luanda town
then, divert to the left heading straight to Ng’iya
market. If you arrive on a Tuesday, then you will be lucky to have a
glimpse of the market day at Ngiya. You then proceed and divert onto
the left just before you reach Mbeji Academy onto the Murram road you
arrive at the Kogelo Dispensary on your right. After a visit of the
dispensary proceed to the Kogelo market, Kogelo primary school and
Senator Barack Obama Secondary School. You will then enter Sarah
Obama’s home behind the Secondary school.
Kogelo is the ancestral home of Barack Obama, Sr.,
the father of current United States President-elect Barack Obama.
Barack Obama, Sr. is buried in the village. Some of their family
members, including his paternal grandmother Mama Sarah Anyango Obama,
still lives in the home. In Mama Sarah Obama’s home; you will
find both the graves of Barack Obama Sr. and his father’s.
You will also find in the homestead Mama Sarah’s house, the
security tents, visit the vegetable garden, the cattle Boma and sit
under the big mango trees where Mama Sarah conducts interviews with
visitors
Drive back to Kisumu town in time for a late lunch at Imperial hotel.
After lunch transfer to Kiboko bay resort for an
afternoon relaxation and dinner and overnight.
Day 3:
Early breakfast at the hotel and at 0700hrs, pick
up and drive on to Maasai Mara via the Kisii –Sotik route
arriving in time for lunch at Mara Serena.
1600 hrs -An afternoon game drive till dusk.
The Maasai Mara National Reserve is Kenya's finest
wildlife reserve. Everything about this reserve is outstanding. The
wildlife is abundant and the gentle rolling grasslands ensure that
animals are never out of sight. Birds, too, are prolific. Including
migrants, well over 450 species have been recorded, among them, 57
species of birds of prey. The climate is gentle, rarely too hot and
well-spread rainfall year round. Rain, when it falls almost always
chooses the late afternoon or night. Between July and October, when the
great wildebeest migration is in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, the
sensation is unparalleled. Dinner and overnight at Mara Serena Lodge
Day 4:
0630 hrs -Early morning game drive in the Mara.
Later, return to the lodge for breakfast. After breakfast, proceed for
a visit to the Maasai village to have a feel of the rich maasai culture.
Return to the lodge for lunch then rest of the
afternoon at leisure.
At 1600 hrs - proceed for an afternoon game drive
till dusk. Dinner and overnight at Mara Serena Lodge
Day 5:
Breakfast at the lodge then depart and drive to
Lake Nakuru National park arriving in tiem for lunch at Sarova Lion
Hill. After lunch, proceed for an afternoon game drive.
Dinner and overnight at Sarova Lion Hill.
Day 6:
Early morning game drive, then breakfast. After
breakfast, return to Nairobi.
