Sarova Shaba
*Unique Wildlife - home to a host of wildlife unique to the area.
*Crocodile Feeding - every evening the crocodiles are fed under the supervision of the naturalist.
*Camel Safaris - you can see the area from the back of a camel, escorted by Samburu Moran (Warriors).
Sarova Shaba Game Lodge is the only lodge in the 239 sq km Shaba
National Reserve, which is the area where George Adamson of the "Born
Free' fame was a senior game warden. The lodge is set on a natural
oasis whose water is channeled into cascades and fishponds on the
entire premises.
After a leisurely breakfast and maybe an early morning swim, you can
take an exhilarating game drive finishing up with a bush lunch served
on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River. The area is home to herds of
elephants, plenty of lions, cheetah, crocodiles, and a number of unique
species of wildlife only found in this part of Kenya, such as the
reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, the gerenuk, Beisa Oryx and the
blue legged Somali ostrich.
There are 3 guided walks daily which will help you learn more about the
indigenous medicinal plants common to the area. You can also see how
many of the 350 different bird species you can spot. The lodge has a
viewing deck overlooking the river with its Nile crocodiles. Between
game viewing activities you can indulge in a Swedish or Aromatherapy
massage.
Location
Sarova Shaba is located in the Shaba National Reserve, in the semi arid
region of Northern Kenya, just next to Ewaso Nyiro River.
