Here are a few highlights of London’s major attractions.
Buckingham Palace
Buckingham Palace is one of the iconic buildings of London and the official residence of Queen Elizabeth II. Initially purchased in 1761 by George III from the Duke of Buckingham the palace has housed the sovereign of Britain since 1837. Visitors surround the palace’s gate daily to witness the changing of the Queen’s guard, which has developed into an intriguing ritual. Began in the summer months of 1993 the palace is opened up to the public in the summer. Alas though, there will be no chance of a Queen sighting as she takes to her summer residences while the palace is open to the public.
