Making a Difference

Do you ever get tired of lying on a beach? I know that sounds like a ridiculous question, but I have often pondered the thought of trying something a little different. I’ve done city breaks, and I often find that a crowded city holiday in the heat of summer can get too much, and I’ve often thought about the idea of giving something back, whilst topping up my tan.

There are some fantastic companies out there that provide structured volunteering holidays, and it’s whilst doing a little of my own research I found some amazing programmes, with something to suit many interests. Whether you want to work with children, help build a school, help animals, or do some marine research, there are some wonderful opportunities available.

I can’t recall meeting anyone who has done a volunteering holiday and regretted it, and for sheer escapism, the chance to experience something completely different, immerse yourself in a different culture and walk in someone else’s shoes, this is a chance not to be missed.
